1. Introduction

Welcome to AayuBuddy. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy will inform you as to how we look after your personal data when you visit our website (regardless of where you visit it from) and tell you about your privacy rights and how the law protects you.

2. Data We Collect

We may collect, use, store and transfer different kinds of personal data about you which we have grouped together as follows:

  • Identity Data: includes first name, last name, username or similar identifier.
  • Contact Data: includes email address and telephone numbers.
  • Medical Data: includes basic health information you choose to share with doctors via our platform (e.g., symptoms, medical history for appointments).
  • Technical Data: includes internet protocol (IP) address, your login data, browser type and version, time zone setting and location.
  • Health Data (patients, optional): any medical conditions, current medications, allergies, past surgeries, blood group, age, gender and emergency contact you choose to add to your health profile. This is shared only with practitioners you consult, so that they can advise you safely. You may leave every one of these fields blank and still use AayuBuddy.
  • Location Data (optional): approximate or precise location from your device, used to sort practitioners by distance when you choose “Near me”, and to let a practitioner pin their clinic on the map. Patients’ coordinates are used on the device to calculate distance and are not stored on our servers. Location is requested only when you use these features, never in the background.
  • Photos and Documents (optional): a profile photo, clinic photo, images attached to posts, and — for practitioners — the qualification certificates uploaded for verification.
  • Device Identifiers: a push notification token so we can deliver alerts about replies, messages and approvals.

3. How We Use Your Data

We will only use your personal data when the law allows us to. Most commonly, we will use your personal data in the following circumstances:

Service Provision

To register you as a new customer and connect you with Ayurvedic practitioners.

Verification

To verify the credentials of doctors listing on our platform (BAMS/MD certificates).

Communication

To send you important updates about your appointments and our services.

Improvement

To improve our platform and provide better healthcare connections.

4. Data Security

We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way. Doctor verification documents are encrypted and accessible only to our verification team. We limit access to your personal data to those employees, agents, contractors and other third parties who have a business need to know.

5. Your Rights

Under data protection laws, you have rights including:

  • The right to access your personal data
  • The right to request correction of your personal data
  • The right to request erasure of your personal data
  • The right to object to processing of your personal data
  • The right to data portability

6. Cookies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to track the activity on our platform and hold certain information. Cookies are files with a small amount of data which may include an anonymous unique identifier. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent.

7. Third-Party Services

Our platform may contain links to other websites. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that site. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site you visit. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third-party sites or services.

8. Deleting Your Account and Data

You can ask us to delete your AayuBuddy account and the personal data held with it at any time, including your health profile, saved practitioners, questions, posts and messages.

Request deletion at aayubuddy.in/delete-account.html, or email support@aayubuddy.in from the address registered to your account. You do not need to install the app to make a request.

We action requests within 30 days. Some records are kept longer where the law requires it — for example invoices and payment records retained for tax purposes, and anonymised records that can no longer identify you.

9. How Long We Keep Your Data

We keep your account data for as long as your account is open. If you ask us to delete it, or if your account stays unused for three years, we remove or anonymise it. Health profile details are deleted together with the account. Financial records are kept for the period Indian tax law requires.

10. Services We Rely On

We use Google Firebase (Google LLC) for sign-in — including Google and phone OTP — and for push notifications. When you sign in, Firebase processes your email address or phone number on our behalf. We use Google Cloud to host the service and its database. These providers process data under our instructions and do not use it for their own advertising.

AayuBuddy carries no advertising and no advertising or tracking SDKs.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
